Peter Walker joined the Glade Run Lake Conservancy in 2019.

 

Peter was born in England, brought up in Ireland, but has lived all over the world before coming to Pittsburgh in 2014. He trained as an environmental scientist but spent most of his career in overseas aid work in Africa, the Middle East, South East Asia, and Central America. In 2010 he moved to Boston where he was a professor at Tufts University. In 2014, he took up the post of Dean of Chatham University's Falk School of Sustainability and Environment based at the Eden Hall campus in Gibsonia, PA. Peter retired in June 2020.

Peter's partner Ceri enjoys hiking, arts projects, and playing tennis as well as working in the garden. She makes regular trips to the UK to visit her mother. They have three grown up children and one granddaughter. The boys, Gareth and Gwilym, live on the west coast while their daughter, Megan, lives in Valencia and works in Wexford as a medical assistant. Megan is also a published illustrator and artist. The family became American citizens in 2009.

Peter and Ceri keep chickens and enjoy growing their own fruit and vegetables. They walk their two dogs, Baxter and Patch, most days around Glade Run Lake and enjoy kayaking on the lake during good weather. Ceri and Megan can often be seen painting and sketching in the area.
